Pebbles is a Coordinator fighting to preserve the indispensable mangrove forests of Suriname. She does so by spreading awareness to and engaging with coastal communities and the public.
Pebbles can buy the necessary equipment for data gathering and travel to the affected coastal regions.
Mangroves are some of the most overlooked ecosystems in the world. Although they store carbon dioxide, house numerous marine lifeforms and protect hundreds of thousands of people from floods and erosion, they are being cut down.
Pebbles is Coordinator for the Hydrology and Mangrove Initiative and works as the Project Assistant for “See Marine Interactions” at the Green Heritage Fund Suriname.
Pebbles conducts research and conservation work on mangrove ecosystems.
Monitors the state of various mangrove ecosystems by gathering and collecting data.
Educates local communities on the importance of the mangroves, and on how to perform data gathering and analysis for future conservation.
