Nikki is an Entomologist running the Short-haired bumblebee reintroduction project. Thanks to her work, native bumblebees have returned to areas of the UK where they previously have been extinct for the past 25 years.

Why care
97 % of ancient flower meadows have disappeared in the UK and with them, bumblebees have gone extinct. Bumblebees are pollinators, and they're responsible for pollinating over about 10% of the world’s crops, we cannot live without them.

Nikki is an Entomologist and Project Manager for the Short-haired bumblebee reintroduction project.
Nikki and her team aim to reintroduce this lost species to the UK
Raise awareness of bumblebee and flower meadow declines
Increase resident rare bumblebee populations
Recreate and give advice on managing and maintaining flower-rich areas
Achievements
Has worked with the Short-haired bumblebee reintroduction project since 2009
Has over the past ten years monitored areas that have shown an increase in rare bumblebee species. On some nature reserves, rare bumblebees have increased 8-fold because of the project’s efforts.
Has reintroduced three rare bumblebee species that have not been seen in England in up to 25 years.
