What if the fashion industry’s climate action is only addressing part of the problem?

Spending time in the field offers a perspective that no report or virtual meeting can replicate. As part of following the progress of the Nature Transformation Fund, I visited two of the projects we support in Indonesia and India. These visits are a crucial way to understand how our partners translate finance into tangible environmental outcomes and how local communities, ecosystems, and science come together in practice.

The Milkywire Climate Transformation Fund uses corporate climate funding to make as much progress as possible towards reaching global net zero. This means identifying projects with high potential for impact, often tackling problems that few others are working on. This year, we found three inspiring solutions to three really big problems.

The Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) just released its second consultation draft of the Corporate Net-Zero Standard 2.0. Much has changed since the first draft, especially regarding carbon removal and Beyond Value Chain Mitigation (BVCM). These two concepts are now merged into a new framework called “responsibility for ongoing emissions”. This new draft marks a real step forward for corporate climate responsibility, but simultaneously, a step backward for durable carbon removal compared to the last draft.
