Healthy air, healthy planet
Air pollution and the effects of climate change both pose a threat to human health. They also have a detrimental impact on our planet’s biodiversity and ecosystems. The locally-rooted nonprofits within this fund work with focus areas such as ocean health, climate research, policy change, forest preservation, and local ownership. All this helps contribute to better air quality and, in turn, supports our planet's health.
Airinum is taking a stand for clean air
Urban health-tech innovator Airinum’s mission is: To create products that empower healthier living and share knowledge that inspires a healthier world. To get there, Airinum and Milkywire have joined forces and launched The Airinum Fund to raise awareness about poor air quality and the climate crisis. Airinum will donate a percentage of its proceeds to grassroots nonprofits across the globe working to improve the health of our planet.
Ocean health is a key aspect of air quality, with the ocean producing more than 50% of the oxygen we breathe.
Trees absorb 30% of global CO2 emissions; that’s how forest restoration and preservation contribute to cleaner air.
Climate research is needed to tackle climate change, which is closely related to air pollution. Higher temperatures lead to more allergens and air pollutants, which are harmful to breathe.
The extraction and burning of fossil fuels is a significant source of air pollutants. Climate activism and pushing policy change are needed to promote clean energy – leading to clean air.
Sustainable change happens locally. To succeed long-term, local communities need to be on board and engaged in the work.
