The jungle of Southeast Asia is being cut down to make room for oil palm plantations, demolishing the clouded leopard habitat. The clouded leopard is also vulnerable to poaching for illegal bone trade and pet trade.
Roshan is an Ecologist and Project Coordinator for Panthera’s Sunda clouded leopard project in Borneo.
He is researching the mysterious sunda clouded leopard and their habitat through camera traps, monitoring their movements, habits and populations.
He and his anti-poaching team use Panthera’s PoacherCam to collaborate with law enforcement to combat poaching.
Panthera is the only organization in the world devoted exclusively to the conservation of the world’s 40 wild cat species and their ecosystems.
Panthera has developed a unique camera trap called PoacherCam. If it snaps a photo of a human it automatically communicates that picture back to a base station via 4G. That way the researchers can keep track of what’s happening in the field and who's out there and easily collaborate with local law enforcement.
Roshan and Panthera are on a mission to ensure a future for wild cats and the vast landscapes on which they depend.
